Being a fourth generation Florida native makes Jen proud to say she is a true ‘Florida Cracker’! She spent half of her life in Fort Lauderdale where her family’s history is strong. While still living in South Florida twelve years ago she was lucky enough to meet and marry her best friend, Charles.

Charles school and work in the home building industry brought them and their menagerie to Tampa. Through the years they have collected many furry children! As of today, their family includes 3 cats-Tiny E, Elphaba and Minnie Mae and 2 Chihuahuas-Ginger and Kiwi. Currently they are also working through the state’s foster care system to adopt a child. (Or children if Jen’s true dream comes true!)

Jen has tried her hand a plenty of occupations… First she trained to become a chef but left those pursuits early on. Next she studied to be a travel agent and work a few years at an agency. She went through training to become a certified interpreter for the deaf and spent a two years working in many capacities. There were many, many years spent working as a custom picture framer and ultimately managing a few frame shops. But, most importantly, Jen has worked in the crafting industry for 20 years and has been scrapbooking and rubberstamping for fun for 14 of those years. Her devotion to paper crafting has been able to allow her to turn what some people call "just a hobby" into a career.

Starting off in at a large craft-chain store, she moved to managing a local scrapbook store in Temple Terrace where she developed teaching skills along with picking up a wonderful collection of friends who have followed her career to Whim So Doodle, attended events she hosted when she was co-owner of a traveling scrapbooking crop party venture, tuned into her scrapbooking segments on the Home Shopping Network and attend her classes and workshops. Along the way she has taught hundreds of scrapbooking classes, hosted countless crop parties and done thousands of demos at scrapbooking conventions! She is also lucky enough to have been published in PaperKutz magazine, sold her custom-made projects on public, on-line auctions and completed projects for private clients including the US's Ambassador to Italy.

Through the years there have been other things to keep this busy girl occupied like attending cooking classes, acting on stage in community theatre, honing up on her pop culture trivia, traveling abroad, playing hostess at lively parties and collecting Florida memorbilia. Over three years ago she joined the Whim So Doodle staff and felt as if she had come home!

As The Doodle’s Events Coordinator she adds to the fun by planning all the events and happenings around the store. As well as teaching a few classes a month, she also coordinates the teaching and design teams making our classes and projects the best there is to offer! So, whether you are taking one of Jen’s classes or just catching up on her emails, you'll enjoy her "I-am-funny-to-me" style that will have you rolling in the aisles!
